In June of each year, the Garland Sports Hall of Fame sponsors the Bobby Boyd Golf Classic at Firewheel Golf Park in Garland, Texas. This is the only GSHF fundraiser all year long. The net proceeds from the tournament are used to support the Garland Sports Hall of Fame programs, which includes the annual induction banquet, student scholarships, and youth charities.

The event begins with a luncheon at the Firewheel Pavilion, then the competition commences with a Shotgun Start. The first and second place teams are recognized with prizes at an Awards Dinner at the Firewheel Pavilion immediately following the end of play. Skills rewarded at the dinner are First and Second Place for low net score and low gross score. Individual awards are given for "closest to the hole" and "longest drive."
