Rex Stultz

Rex Stultz was named All-Lone Star Conference in 1942 when he led the East Texas State College Lions to the conference championship. Rex's running, passing, and kicking also brought him honorable mention on the Little All-American selection. In college, Rex was also a tennis letterman, playing number three singles and on the number one doubles team. As a senior at Garland H.S., Rex was captain of the 1938 Owls and was unanimous first team all-district selection at end. As a junior, he was the starting center and received all-district honorable mention. In 1939, Rex led Garland to the Dallas County Class B track championship, earning high point honors, he was first in the 120-yard high hurdles, 220-yard low hurdles, the high jump and was a member of the winning mile relay team. In the district meet, he captured the high hurdles with a record time. As a junior, he won the high jump at the county, district, and regional meets, and qualified for state. In tennis competition for Garland, Rex won the city's singles championship as a sophomore and junior, the county doubles championship as a freshman and the county singles championship as both a junior and senior. Following service with the combat Military Police in WWII, Rex joined the coaching staff at Crozier Tech High School in Dallas, eventually serving as the head football coach for three year, 1953-1955. Rex was a Southwest Conference football official for 20 years, and an official starter for Texas college and high school track events for 25 years.
